A unit of this scheme is being run in the college since 2009-10, courtesy of the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India; the main objective of which is national service along with education.
From time to time, National Service Scheme organizes camps and does works of public welfare such as tree plantation, cleaning of slums and road construction. After getting admission in college, students wishing to participate in this scheme office have to fill up the prescribed application form and submit it to National Service Scheme.
Every year, students are selected in the unit on the basis of interview by a committee, from which only graduate level students are selected as members (volunteers). Students who do public service work for 120 hours each in the first and second year are given certificates on completion of the required membership period of two years.
